Thick smoke in the air at Sherman contractors,
Construction business, fairly unknown.
Quarter to seven on a hot summer day,
The workplace reeks of yesterday.
Gilbert, Proverbial figure, voluntary deeply involved.
His chair is empty! While the nerve-racking congregation about to take place.

The buzzer pressed down:
“We need some coffee here Dianne!”
The door then opens,
A letdown to the sight of an office clerk.

A tiny shirt pocket, an half eaten pencil,
Boiling forum, office knavery.
Sherman senior shakes his head,
Points his finger at the empty chair.

On the long and winding road
Between the heart and the mind,
By a tree I’ve found a door,
That shows the Gilbert isn’t coming anymore!

Doorbell cuts through the brawling in the workplace,
Dianne standing courageous by the door
A signed letter in between her fingers, Sherman senior is requesting: “won`t you read it out loud”

“Proposing to start anew,
Scrap the old conception for good,
Requirement for my return”

“Gilbert dropped a brick!” the boss said.

On the long and winding road
Between the heart and the mind,
As I walk towards the pier hanging to a thought.
Before the drops become a rainstorm,
I’ll unlock this gate, Gilbert won’t be coming today,
It seems that I’m here to stay!

On the long and winding road between the heart and the mind, I look over the horizon, a distant flash of light.
Until the truth comes out I’ll hide here, but you won’t understand, Gilbert won’t becoming again.
This time it’s good `cause I am here to stay!

In conclusion: a brief downfall!
The senior chief spoke in the staffroom:
“Yesterday we’ve lost a hero”
